Recently, news of firing has emerged from Jalandhar. It is being reported that a BJP leader was shot in Jalandhar on Tuesday, May 12th. The BJP leader had come there to mediate a truce between two parties. A panchayat was also called to resolve the dispute. Meanwhile, one party opened fire in public, injuring two people, including BJP leader Monu Puri. The injured were admitted to a private hospital.
Actually, a dispute had been going on for some time between two parties in the vegetable market of the Maksudan area. Both parties had held a meeting to resolve the dispute peacefully. BJP leader Monu Puri had come there to mediate and broker a truce.

Instead of the meeting settling down peacefully, the atmosphere suddenly turned violent. On seeing this, both the sides took out their weapons and started firing. In the firing, BJP leader Monu got shot in his leg, due to which he bled profusely. Apart from the BJP leader, two more people were injured in the firing. After the incident, the attackers fled from there.
Monu Puri told that the attackers did not come with the intention of making a compromise, but had come fully prepared. The people who opened fire are from Mandi itself. After the incident, the police sealed the incident site and recovered empty cartridges from there. The police is checking the CCTV footage installed nearby, so that the attackers can be identified.
