Recently, on Monday night, a horrific accident occurred on the Barnala-Bathinda National Highway and the Tapa Mandi overbridge. Due to darkness at night, a car rear-ended a tractor-trolley on the overbridge, causing the car and trolley to catch fire.
The fire was so intense that the car and trolley became a ball of fire within no time. The darkness of the night and the lack of lighting on the overbridge are said to be the main causes of the accident.
According to information, the driver of the car is Naveen Verma, who works at the Maruti agency in Chandigarh. Naveen was traveling from Chandigarh to Bathinda with his friend in a Baleno car for agency work. His car collided with a trolley on the Tapa Over Bridge. The collision was so severe that the car and the trolley caught fire. Both the car and the trolley were engulfed in flames. But the relief is that no one was killed. As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade reached the spot and tried to control the fire, but by then the car and the trolley were badly burnt.

On this occasion, social worker Mehma Singh Chattha, while talking about the accident, said that the fire broke out due to the collision between the car and the trolley. The car owner and the trolley owner have suffered losses worth lakhs. The lights on the bridge are not working, leaving the overbridge in darkness, and accidents are commonplace. Mehma Singh demanded that the lights on the Tapa Bridge be turned on to prevent future accidents due to darkness.
