Another farmer of Sangrur drowned in debt: Parents ill, son with a hole in his heart, took loan of Rs 17 lakh for treatment

Recently, a tragic incident has come to light in Sangrur district, in which a farmer from Kadiyal village committed suicide due to financial difficulties. The farmer was distressed by the illness of his son and parents. The debt taken for his son’s and parents’ treatment was increasing, which caused the young man to become increasingly distressed and commit suicide by consuming poison.

The young man’s name was Baljinder Singh. He has two sons—one 9 years old and the other 12 years old. Baljinder’s father is bedridden. His younger son suffers from heart disease. Baljinder’s mother is also ill. A lot of money was spent on Tino’s treatment. Baljindra had arranged for the money by taking a loan.

It is being reported that Baljindra had a debt of 17 lakh rupees. Baljindra owned only three acres of land, and the income from that was not enough to cover the medical expenses and loan interest. He had been worried about the debt for some days, due to which today Baljindra swallowed something poisonous, which led to his death.

Baljindra was the sole breadwinner of the family. After Baljindra’s death, there was no one left to care for his ailing parents and two children. Baljindra’s family and villagers are demanding that the Punjab government waive all the debts of this poor farmer family. In addition, financial assistance should be provided for the future of Baljindra’s children and for the treatment of his ailing parents.
