A Child was Rescued from a Borewell in Hoshiarpur After a 9-hour Struggle

On May 15th, news emerged of a 3-year-old child falling into a 300-foot-deep borewell in Hoshiarpur. He was recently rescued safely after nearly nine hours at around 4 p.m. on Friday. As soon as the child emerged, he hugged his mother. NDRF, SDRF, Punjab Police, administrative officials, and local residents jointly conducted the rescue operation successfully.

The child fell 300 feet into the borewell while playing. He was pulled out of the borewell at around 12:40 a.m. on May 15th and immediately taken to the hospital for a medical checkup. The doctor declared everything normal.

This rescue operation was led by DC Ashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik. After the successful rescue operation, the DC informed that the child was sent to the hospital for further examination. He is currently undergoing treatment.

The DC informed that the borewell had been dug for 15 days. The incident occurred at around 4 pm in Chak Samana village near the international border in Hoshiarpur. Administrative officials immediately reached the spot upon receiving information. The child was identified as Gurkaran Singh, son of labourers Harinder and Asha, who had fallen into an open borewell near his home.

A pit was dug nearby to lay the pipe, but even after laying the 15-inch pipe, the pit was not completely filled. During this time, the child reached there while playing. Due to the sandy area, his foot slipped and he fell into the gap made by the pipe.
