Recently, news of a horrific and tragic accident is coming from Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu in which 19 workers were burnt alive due to an explosion in a firecracker factory. Many workers were also seriously injured in this explosion. The injured workers have been admitted to the hospital. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police team and fire brigade teams reached the spot and started relief and rescue work.
Many firecracker factories are operating in Virudhunagar district and hundreds of men and women from the nearby area earn their living by working as laborers. Similarly, there was a factory in Kattarpatti near Virudhunagar, which caught fire due to an explosion on Sunday morning. Like every day, all the workers had come to work on Sunday morning and were working in different parts of the factory. Meanwhile, suddenly there was an explosion inside, which was so powerful that in the blink of an eye, 4 buildings of the factory collapsed.
At the time of this explosion, more than 20 workers were present in the factory. Due to the explosion, they got trapped in the debris and fire inside the factory. The fire that broke out after the explosion engulfed the entire area in thick black smoke. The local people nearby informed the police and fire brigade. Police teams and fire brigade tried to control the fire and started rescue operation to rescue the people trapped inside.

So far 19 people have died in the explosion in the factory. Police said that more than 5 workers were badly burnt. The injured workers were taken to the hospital and their condition is critical, due to which the death toll is feared to increase. Police have taken the bodies of the 19 dead workers into custody and sent them to the mortuary for postmortem and have started investigation into the case. The factory owner and manager are also being questioned.
