Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently took a significant decision, implementing a reward policy. Under this policy, the Punjab Police will reward those who provide reliable information about wanted criminals/gangsters and their networks in the state. The state government has also released a list of the 28 most wanted criminals.
Under the Punjab Gangsters and War Project, the government has authorized Commissioners of Police/Range IGs/DIGs to approve rewards of up to ₹1.5 lakh, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) up to ₹1 lakh, Directors General of Police up to ₹2 lakh, and heads of various wings (Special DGPs/ADGPs) up to ₹2 lakh. This amount will only be available to those who provide accurate and genuine information.
The government believes that the purpose of this scheme is to eliminate crime and gangster networks in Punjab. Public participation is crucial to fully dismantle them. Information received will be thoroughly verified, and rewards will be awarded based on established criteria. The identity of the informant will be kept strictly confidential. This will be further ensured that the informant is not in any danger.

The information obtained under this scheme will be used to further enhance Operation Prahar and the fight against gangsters. This scheme is a high-level reward scheme, in which the identity of the informant will be protected. The police appealed to the public to come forward and contribute to making the state crime-free. The police stated categorically that public safety is their responsibility and that all information will be used only after a thorough investigation.
