Recently, shocking news has come from Phagwara in Punjab’s Kaptan district, in which DSP Yogesh Kumar has died after being shot by his official revolver.
It is being told that this incident took place in his official quarters near Police Station Sadar Phagwara at around 7:30 in the morning. The bullet hit the DSP in the chest after which he was taken to Johal Hospital in Jalandhar. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead.
It is being told that when the DSP was cleaning his official pistol in the morning, a bullet accidentally went off, which hit his chest. Upon hearing the gunshot, nearby police officers rushed to his spot and, finding him injured, immediately took him to a private hospital in Jalandhar for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.
The police are investigating whether it was an accidental death or suicide. The sudden death of a senior officer like the DSP has sent shockwaves through the Punjab Police Department.

After investigation, the case is being considered an accident, but the police are still investigating the matter from all angles.
Phagwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Madhavi Sharma confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. He stated that a forensic team has been called in to determine whether the DSP’s death was an accident or due to some other reason. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
