The body of missing manager Pankaj Malhotra was recovered yesterday, April 16th, seven days after the Vrindavan boat accident. Manager Pankaj’s body was found 2.5 kilometers away from the accident site, near Devraha Ghat and under the Panigaon bridge. The body was bloated and floating on the water. Divers and army personnel retrieved manager Pankaj’s body. With the addition of manager Pankaj, the total death toll has risen to 16.
Rescue operations continued for seven days after the Vrindavan boat accident. Teams from the Army, NDRF, SDRF, PAC, and local divers began searching for the missing pilgrims on the very day of the Vrindavan boat accident. After the steamer was recovered, a 40-person army team was sent back.
The NDRF team came from Ghaziabad, the SDRF team from Lucknow, the Army’s Strike One Corps’ flood detachment came from the Army’s Strike One Corps headquarters in Mathura, and the PAC team came from Agra. The divers were locals.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited Jagran to express his condolences to the families of those killed in the Vrindavan accident. He then visited the Jagraon crematorium to pay tribute to the deceased. Besides Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, other political leaders were also present.
