Kapurthala Police achieved a major success as part of the drug-free campaign in Punjab. Recently, during a blockade, CIA staff apprehended two drug smugglers with 500 grams of heroin.
SP (D) Harinder Singh stated that a case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at Sadar police station and a three-day police remand has been obtained from the court.
SP (D) Harinder Singh stated that CIA staff in-charge Sub-Inspector Raman Kumar was present at Mushkved Chowk with his team. A special informant informed him that Ladi Singh and Ram Singh, residents of Dogranwal village, were involved in large-scale heroin trafficking.

According to the information provided, they were traveling on a bike via Hamira and Lakhan Kalan villages to supply drugs to a customer in Kapurthala city. Upon receiving the information, the police team set up a special checkpoint near the Sri Anandpur Sahib Khalsa Academy on Lakhan Kalan Road.
When the two accused were seen approaching on the bike, they turned back upon seeing the police and tried to flee. Police then chased them and apprehended them.

DSP Sub-Division Dr. Sheetal Singh searched the accused. Ram Singh recovered 200 grams of heroin and Ladi Singh recovered 300 grams of heroin. Police seized 500 grams of heroin and the bike.
Police said the accused have been arrested and are being thoroughly interrogated during remand. Police are trying to determine from whom they obtained the drugs and to whom they intended to supply them.
