Granthi Singh of Gurdwara Sahib assaulted in Jagraon, protest outside SSP office!

A shocking incident has recently come to light from Ludhiana, involving a fight between a Granthi Singh and members of the Gurdwara Committee at the Gurdwara Sahib in Sherpur Kalan village, Jagraon. Protests erupted in the area following allegations of an attack on Granthi Singh, the removal of his turban, and the desecration of Dada Sahib.

A video of this incident has gone viral on social media. Following the video’s virality, a large number of villagers and Sikh organizations have come out in support of Granthi Singh.

Granthi Singh filed a police complaint demanding action against the accused. However, even after a few days, no case has been registered, leading to public anger. Consequently, people began protesting outside the SSP office on May 7th. The protesters raised slogans against the police administration and alleged that the police were not taking action under pressure.

Upon receiving information about the protest, chaos erupted in the police department. Police attempted to calm the situation by speaking with the protesters, but the protesters maintained their resolve, stating that the protest would continue until a case was filed against the accused under sections of assault and sacrilege.

Sikh organization leader Manjit Singh stated that Granthi Singh Major Singh has been serving at the Gurdwara Sahib in Sherpur Kalan village for a long time, but due to political rivalry and influence in the village, some people are constantly harassing him.

Manjit Singh alleged that the accused went to extremes, not only assaulting him but also removing his turban and insulting Dada Sahib. Manjeet Singh warned that if the police did not take strict action against the accused soon, the protests would intensify.
