Boat Capsizes in Yamuna in Hamirpur, UP; 6 Feared Drowned

Recently, news has emerged that some people are feared drowned after a boat capsized in the Yamuna River in Hamirpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday night, May 6th.

It is being reported that six of the nine people on board the boat are feared drowned. The passengers were crossing the river to buy watermelons when their boat capsized. Upon receiving information about the incident, police and administration teams arrived at the scene and launched a rescue operation to find the missing people.

It is being reported that Shripal’s daughter’s wedding was scheduled for May 5th in Kotupur Patia, Bhuli village, Kurara police station area. After the farewell on the evening of May 6th, the family and relatives crossed the Yamuna River to eat watermelons. While returning, the boat driver started talking on his mobile phone, which caused the boat to lose balance and capsize. All passengers on the boat fell into the river.

After the boat capsized, three people swam to safety, but six are still missing. The injured were taken to the hospital. The condition of two is said to be serious.

Rescue operations are underway in the Yamuna River to find the remaining six people. Divers and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team were called in. The family was devastated.

The people present in the boat have been identified as 9-year-old Akanksha, daughter Ramhet, resident of Jalala, 9-year-old Rani, daughter Bachan Nishad, 25-year-old Brajrani, wife Pappu, Manki, 5-year-old Gorelal, son Mahesh, resident of Ghatampur, 5-year-old Lavyansh, daughter Vishnu Manki, 11-year-old Aditya, son Mahesh, resident of Ghatampur, Vishnu, son Ramswaroop, Rinku, daughter Raju and Parul, daughter Baua.
