2 Blasts in 3 Hours at an Army Camp in Amritsar and the BSF Headquarters in Jalandhar

On the night of May 5th, explosions occurred in two different cities in Punjab within three hours. First, in Jalandhar and then in Amritsar, the sound of which spread panic throughout the region. An investigation has been launched to determine who carried out the blasts and the motive behind them.

NIA teams arrived in both cities to inspect the site of the blasts and collect evidence. The blast in Jalandhar occurred on a scooter parked near the BSF headquarters, so the surrounding area has been cordoned off.

The first explosion occurred outside the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters in Jalandhar, at 8:00 pm. The blast occurred on a Flipkart delivery boy’s Activa scooter, which was parked outside the BSF Punjab Frontier Headquarters.

The scooter was completely engulfed in flames as soon as the blast occurred. The sound of the explosion was heard up to 1 km away. No one was injured in the blast. Police and security agencies believe that either a grenade attack was carried out, or explosives were hidden in a package or parcel kept inside the scooter. The delivery boy was taken into custody after the blast and CCTV footage is currently being examined.

The second blast occurred about three hours later in the neighbouring district of Amritsar. This blast occurred near the Army Cantonment (Khasa Khetra) in Amritsar at around 10:50 pm. There is no news of anyone being injured in the blast.
