A tragic incident has come to light in Gurdaspur, where a young man preparing for a tournament at the sports ground in Bhikhari Harnia village, near Kahnuwan town, died after being electrocuted. The incident has cast a pall of fear over the area, and the family is in shock.
A village boy explained that sports tournaments are held in the village every year, and preparations were underway for one this year as well. All the village boys were busy filling the ground with soil and making other arrangements.
Meanwhile, village boy Inderjeet Singh was installing an iron pole in the ground when he came in contact with high-voltage power lines passing overhead.

The current was so intense that Inderjeet died on the spot. However, the villagers immediately rushed him to the hospital. Doctors declared him dead at the hospital. Inderjeet’s death left his family in a state of grief.
Inderjeet used to support his family by driving a truck for a gas agency. He had married a few years earlier. Inderjeet has a wife and a 7-month-old son.
The stadium where the sports tournament was to be held was now shrouded in flames. People said that Inderjeet was a friendly boy and helped with all the village chores. After his death, an atmosphere of grief has spread in the village.
