Mother Burns 11-day-old Child in Fire in Pathankot, Case Registered on Father’s Complaint

Recently, heart-breaking news is coming from Pathankot, in which a mother in Bhoa village left her 11-day-old child to burn in a fire. This incident is said to be 4 months old. The woman’s husband and in-laws filed a complaint with the SSP on Thursday and demanded action.

The police took statements from the family and after investigation, registered a case against the child’s mother under several sections. The accused woman’s name is Santosh and she is a resident of Dhariwal in Gurdaspur district.

Husband Mandeep Singh told that on January 15 at 2 pm, he had gone to the market with his father Surinder Pal. His wife Santosh and their 11-day-old son were at home. When Mandeep returned home after an hour, he saw smoke coming out of the room and the child crying loudly.

Husband Mandeep Singh said that when he went into the room, he saw that the child’s bed was on fire and the child was surrounded by flames and his wife was standing nearby and just watching.

Husband Mandeep, along with the family members, extinguished the fire and took the child out. By the time the child was rescued, it was too late. The child had been engulfed in flames. The child’s feet, toes, stomach and elbows were badly burnt. Mandeep has accused his wife of setting the child’s bed on fire.

Mandeep said that they were married six years ago. Initially, the family lived together, but his wife was a frequent quarreler. Mandeep said that when his wife gets angry, she loses her senses and acts like a mad person. Santosh even punched her stomach during her pregnancy, trying to harm the child.
