Recently, people are raising questions on the Civil Hospital of Samrala. Actually, a 27-year-old woman (Pooja), a resident of Urna village of Nepal, was undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital of Samrala, during which she died.
The family members of the deceased Pooja accused the hospital administration and doctors of negligence and protested outside the hospital. The family says that their daughter lost her life due to the doctors’ mistake.
The father of the deceased Pooja told that his daughter only had a cough and 3 days ago she had undergone an operation (cesarean section) and she had given birth to a child.
The father said, “My daughter was perfectly fine. I spoke to her half an hour ago and went there. She only had a cough, but we don’t understand what the doctors did to her. If this hospital couldn’t treat her, they should have told us earlier, and we would have taken her to a larger private hospital.” They also alleged that the hospital was severely lacking in facilities.
A female relative of the deceased, Pooja, said that she had come to visit Pooja in the morning, and Pooja had indicated that she was coughing a lot.
The female relative said that when Pooja’s condition worsened, there was no senior doctor present at the hospital. Only nurses and staff were present. By the time the doctors arrived, it was too late. Doctors later stated that Pooja’s cause of death was a heart attack, which the family is unwilling to accept.
The grieving family has demanded a complete report and evidence from the hospital administration. The family says they will not rest until they receive a written report confirming the actual cause of Pooja’s death and action is taken against the negligent staff.

The family says, “Our daughter is gone, but we don’t want this to happen to anyone else. The lives of the poor have no value in this hospital.”
The hospital administration has refused to accept the allegations of negligence leveled after Pooja’s death at Samrala Civil Hospital. Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur, the hospital’s gynecologist, stated that Pooja was treated under the supervision of specialist doctors and the patient’s condition was stable after the operation.
The cause of Pooja’s death is believed to be a sudden cardiac arrest. The team of doctors tried everything possible, including CPR, to save Pooja for approximately 45 minutes. The duty doctor, staff nurse, and other support staff were present at the scene at the time of the incident. The cause of Pooja’s death will be known only after the postmortem report is received.
