Airport Shocker: Passenger Caught with 6 Kg+ Ganja in Amritsar

Amritsar Police has achieved a success in the ongoing campaign of the police to make Punjab drug-free. Recently, Amritsar Customs Department received intelligence about drug smuggling, based on which the officers arrested a suspicious passenger, who was found in possession of drugs.

According to the information, the accused passenger had reached Amritsar from Singapore via Bangkok on flight no. TR-50. The Customs Department had already received information, due to which the officers kept an eye on the passenger. As soon as he landed at the airport, his profiling was done and his luggage was thoroughly checked.

During checking of the bag, 6 Kg 270 gram of Ganja was found in the passenger’s bag. The drugs were confiscated. The seized drugs have an estimated international market value of approximately ₹6.27 crore. Due to the large quantity of drugs recovered, it is believed that the accused is linked to an international drug trafficking network.

The Customs Department took the accused passenger into custody and registered a case against him under relevant sections. The investigation has yielded some clues, which are being used to identify other potential suspects. Officers say that more people may be involved, who are being tracked down.

Investigation agencies are working to expose the entire network. The Customs Department has clearly stated that similar strict action against drug trafficking will continue in the future to effectively stop this illegal trade.
