Recently, a sad and shameful news has come to light, in which a speeding container crushed an elderly couple riding an Activa on Monday near Shanidev Temple on the National Highway in Khanna. The deceased woman was identified as 53-year-old Narinder Kaur, a resident of Rashidpur village in Fatehgarh Sahib district, who died on the spot. Her husband was seriously injured. The sad news is that the injured elderly man kept writhing in pain on the road for an hour but the ambulance did not reach on time.
It is being told that the elderly couple had come to Khanna to meet someone known to them. While returning home, when they reached near Shanidev Temple on the National Highway, a speeding container hit their Activa hard. The collision was so traumatic and horrific that Narinder Kaur was crushed under the container’s tires and died on the spot. Her husband, Bharpur Singh, was seriously injured and fell on the road. He was later taken to a nearby civil hospital, where, after first aid, he was referred to Sector 32, Chandigarh.

A woman who witnessed the accident said she was riding a motorcycle with her husband. The container driver was driving at a very high speed. After the accident, the driver tried to flee, but people chased him, caught him, and handed him over to the police.
Another woman who was present at the time of the accident said the accident was very traumatic. The woman died on the spot and her husband was lying injured on the road, crying for help. No one even helped him, instead people stole his mobile, purse and other belongings. No one tried to take him to the hospital.
The police was informed of the accident. The police reached the spot and investigated the matter and are investigating further.
