Recently, the discovery of a young man’s body in the Chohal Dam in Hoshiarpur caused a sensation in the area. The body was identified as Gaurav Kapoor, a resident of Bahadurpur who had been missing since April 15th.
SHO Baljinder Singh Malli of Sadar Police Station stated that information was received about an unidentified body floating in the Chohal Dam. Upon receiving the information, a police team, including ASI Balveer Singh and ASI Jasveer Singh, arrived at the dam and began retrieving the body. Due to the nighttime, retrieving the body posed some difficulty, but on the morning of April 16th, the police retrieved the body from the dam.
The deceased Gaurav Kapoor’s brother told police that Gaurav had been mentally disturbed for some time, which is why he committed suicide. Based on statements made by Gaurav’s brother and family, action has been taken under Section 174 CrPC.

The police are also investigating the case from other angles. Gaurav’s death has plunged the family and village into grief. Gaurav’s body has been sent to Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
