Amritsar Police recently achieved a major success in the Punjab government’s campaign against drugs and illegal weapons. Police busted a major drug and illegal arms smuggling racket and arrested two smugglers.
Police recovered 5.5 kg of heroin, four pistols, and 10 live cartridges from the arrested accused. Investigation revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with cross-border smugglers and were involved in the movement of arms and ammunition consignments from Pakistan to Punjab.

Police believe this network may be linked to an international smuggling gang. A case has been registered at the SSOC Police Station, Amritsar. The police is now working to connect the forward and backward links of this network so that the remaining people involved in this gang can be identified and arrested.
