Serious Charges: Shopkeeper Accuses Punjab Police of Custodial Abuse!

Recently, news emerged from Ludhiana in which police applied electric shock to a shopkeeper’s private parts. The in-charge of Ludhiana’s Police Station Division No. 6 has been embroiled in controversy. The owner of a chicken shop has accused him of subjecting him to third-degree torture at the police station.

The shop owner stated that the SHO arrived at the shop with his junior officers and took him to the police station. They stripped him naked and applied electric shock to his private parts.

The shop owner stated that everyone at the police station beat him in a very grotesque manner, even stripping him, and assaulted him multiple times. The shop owner’s family arrived and with great difficulty secured his bail.

The shop owner’s condition is such that he has been bedridden for five days and his vision is blurred in one eye. At the request of his family, the shop owner filed a written complaint against the SHO with senior officers and the Punjab Human Rights Commission. Upon receiving the complaint, officers placed the SHO under house arrest and launched an investigation into the matter.

The SHO stated in his defense that the chicken shop owner is lying. He used to serve alcohol to people at his shop. Despite repeated warnings, he refused to stop. He was arrested on April 3rd but was not tortured.
