Big Drug Bust: 5 Kg Heroin Seized, 2 Arrested in Amritsar

As you all know, drug abuse has spread widely in Punjab. Every youth in Punjab is battling the clutches of drugs today. Under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, a campaign was underway to make Punjab a drug-free state, which has achieved a major success today. Amritsar’s Counter Intelligence (CI) busted a narcotics smuggling module, arresting two individuals. 5 kg of heroin was recovered from them. This information was given by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Monday.

The men arrested with 5 kg of heroin have been identified as Gurjant Singh, a resident of Phirwaria, Amritsar, and Maninder Singh, a resident of Khatrai Khurd, Amritsar. In addition to the drugs, police also seized their hatchback Hyundai i20 car, with registration number PB10GH0140. This car was being used to transport the consignment.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested accused have links to a Pakistani smuggler and a foreign handler who sends consignments across the border, for whom they work in exchange for money.

The DGP further stated that the Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar Police had received information that a foreign national was in contact with a drug smuggler from Pakistan and that the two, together with the help of the arrested accused, were running a drug smuggling network in the state of Punjab.

The Punjab Police performed its duty well. The Punjab Police is working very hard in the campaign to eliminate drugs from Punjab, and their efforts bore fruit today.
