Recently, in Harsa Chhina Shahbazpur village near Rajasansi town of Amritsar district, the in-laws killed their daughter-in-law for dowry. Hearing this incident, humanity is being shamed. Due to non-payment of dowry, the in-laws hanged their daughter-in-law to death. The deceased has been identified as Kuljeet Kaur, who was married to Lovepreet Singh, a boy from the village, about two and a half years ago.
According to information, the deceased Kuljeet Kaur and her husband Lovepreet Singh have a 9-month-old son. Kuljeet Kaur’s family alleges that her in-laws began harassing her for dowry shortly after her marriage. Kuljeet’s husband, her mother-in-law, and her father-in-law would beat her.
The in-laws are accused of constantly pressuring Kuljeet to share the family’s land. Kuljeet’s family stated that domestic violence and assault had occurred several times before, after which the village elders and influential people had held discussions several times. However, the in-laws’ behavior remained unchanged, and they persisted in their dowry demands.

On April 5th, this small incident took a serious turn. On Sunday, Kuljeet called his sister Manveer and tearfully said, “These people will kill me, you come home quickly.” Hearing Kuljeet’s cries, when the family reached his in-laws’ house, they found Kuljeet’s dead body there. The family told the police that before they could reach there, the in-laws brutally killed Kuljeet and hanged him.
After Kuljeet’s death, his family is very angry. The family has said that they will not perform Kuljeet’s last rites until Lovepreet and his parents are arrested. The family has demanded from the police that strictest action should be taken against the accused and they should be sent to jail soon so that the victim’s family can get justice.
