Big Bust in Patiala: Inter-State Arms Smuggling Racket Busted, 4 Arrested with 10 modern pistols

Patiala Police achieved a breakthrough in its campaign to eliminate gangsters and illegal arms trade in Punjab. Recently, Patiala Police busted an inter-state illegal arms supply module and arrested four smugglers. Ten modern self-loading (country-made) weapons were recovered from the smugglers. Investigation revealed that the arrested accused were in touch with their handlers based abroad and communicated through social media.

Identification of the accused:

  • Saurabh Kumar: Resident of village Jarang Dih, Muzaffarpur (Bihar)
  • Abhishek alias Kaka: Resident of Gurdeep Colony, Ablowal (Patiala)
  • Inderjit Singh alias Rohit: Resident of Old Bishan Nagar (Patiala)
  • Creator: Resident of Sohana (Mohali)

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the investigation revealed that these accused were importing illegal weapons from Bihar and supplying them for criminal activities in Punjab. During the investigation, police received indications of a gang war. To establish his dominance in the area, Goldy Dhillon planned to target a rival criminal connected to the network.

SSP Patiala Varun Sharma said that the police team had received confirmed information that Saurabh Kumar, a resident of Bihar, was supplying weapons for target killing and other criminal activities in Punjab on the orders of his foreign handler.

An operation was launched to nab these criminals, which was led by the CIA Patiala unit and SHO Shambhu, SP Investigation Gurbans Singh Bains, and DSP Harman Cheema.

During the investigation, the police found that the supplier, Saurabh Kumar, was purchasing weapons from some illegal arms manufacturing units operating in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, and then supplying these weapons to Punjab through various methods.

The arrested accused Abhishek was in constant contact with gangster Goldy Dhillon through social media and was active in gangster activities. The police have registered a case against the arrested accused under Section 111 of the BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Shambhu (Patiala) and further investigation is underway.
