Amritpal Singh Mehroon, the main accused in a recent Bathinda murder case, has been arrested. He murdered his sister-in-law, Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur, and fled to Dubai. Police recently arrested Amritpal in Dubai, and the extradition process was completed today. Amritpal was arrested by the OFTEC cell of Punjab’s Counter Intelligence Wing.
Kamal Kaur’s body was found in the parking lot of Bathinda’s Aadesh Hospital on June 11, 2025. A postmortem revealed that she had been strangulated to death. Amritpal’s three accomplices, Jaspreet Singh, Nimratjit Singh, and Ranjit Singh, are also involved in the murder case. Jaspreet Singh, Nimratjit Singh, and Ranjit Singh have already been arrested.

Amritpal fled to Dubai after the murder and remains there. On February 7, 2026, a Bathinda court declared him a fugitive. Following the court’s decision, the Punjab Police issued a Red Corner Notice through Interpol.
The postmortem report of influencer Kanchan Kumari, alias Kamal Kaur, confirmed that she died from strangulation. Rumors of rape also surfaced, but the postmortem report did not confirm any such findings.
