Lahore High Court Cracks Down! Pak Home Ministry Pulled Up in Sarabjit Kaur Case

The High Court heard a petition seeking deportation of Sarabjit Kaur for violating Pakistan’s visa rules. Advocates M. Nawaz Sheikh and Ali Changezi Sandhu presented arguments in the case.

The Lahore High Court heard the case on March 25 for deporting Sarbjit Kaur, a woman who recently went to Pakistan from Punjab. The High Court expressed displeasure with the Pakistan Home Ministry. Justice Farooq Haider of the High Court said, “It is the negligence of the ministry not to submit the report even after two months.”

The High Court summoned the Assistant Advocate General and strictly ordered that the reports of all departments be submitted by the next date. Meanwhile, three departments submitted their responses in advance, and two of them declined to comment.

On March 24, a hearing was held in the Lahore High Court, in which Advocate Ali Changezi Sandhu requested an early hearing on humanitarian grounds. The court accepted the arguments, prioritizing the case and adjourning it for an early hearing.

During the hearing, Justice Farooq Haider sought responses from the parties and ordered them to submit all necessary documents on time. The court stated that the matter would be considered legally and humanitarianly.

During the last hearing, Advocate Ali Changezi Sandhu drew the attention of the court and reminded that orders were given to the Cabinet Division, DG FIA, Home Ministry, Punjab Government, External Affairs Ministry and Minority Affairs Ministry to submit a detailed report on Sarabjit Kaur’s case, in which replies have been received from some ministries but some home ministries did not take it seriously and no report has been submitted till now.
