Fever Panic in Firozpur! 19-Year-Old Dies, Area on Alert

Recently, news has emerged from Hazara Singh Wala, a border village in Mamdot town of Firozpur, where jaundice and dangerous bacteria have spread. There is an atmosphere of fear among the people. The villagers have become so seriously ill that they are dying. In this same village, a 19-year-old boy named Arshdeep Singh died due to the disease. Family members say that Arshdeep Singh died due to jaundice.

Similarly, a 12-year-old girl died in this same village a month ago on February 22nd. Due to the frequent deaths, an atmosphere of fear has prevailed in the village.

Arshdeep Singh’s brother told that Arshdeep Singh, a 12th-grade pass, had gone to a warehouse in Dera Beas with his friends and relatives last Thursday. There, his health suddenly deteriorated and he did not get up from bed for 2-3 days. Arshdeep was vomiting continuously. When he was returning home on Monday, he fainted on the way near Makhu. After which, the family took him to Civil Hospital Firozpur. Seeing Arshdeep’s condition worsening, the doctor referred him to Faridkot Medical College.

Even after a day of treatment in Faridkot, there was no improvement in Arshdeep’s condition. After this, he was referred to AIIMS Bathinda and then in serious condition to PGI Chandigarh. Upon reaching PGI, after examination by the doctor, he was declared dead. The family is in deep shock due to Arshdeep’s untimely death.

Dr. Rekha Bhatti of Mamdot Government Hospital said that the population of this village is approximately 3500, in which samples of 1900 people were taken, out of which 35 cases of jaundice were found, out of which 11 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. Dr. Rekha Bhatti said that jaundice is spreading in the village due to infection of leptospirosis bacteria.

He stated that the cause of Arshdeep’s death cannot be determined until his reports and medical records are fully examined. The department is also requesting Arshdeep’s past records.
