Blast Outside BJP Office in Chandigarh—Police Suspect Crude Device!

On April 1, a blast was heard outside the BJP’s Punjab unit headquarters, prompting police to arrive. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in Sector 37, Chandigarh. Senior BJP leaders said no one was injured in the massive explosion.

Following the blast, a police team arrived and cordoned off the entire area. Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur stated that an investigation revealed that the blast was caused by throwing a “crude-type” device outside the BJP office.

Former Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma also shared some photos confirming the incident on “X”.

Former Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma said-

“…Likely Blast outside Punjab BJP Office Sector 37 Chandigarh. Around 30 minutes ago. Police is finding out the reason of Blast.”

“We received information at around 5 pm that an explosion-like sound was heard near the Punjab BJP office.”

“Our crime branch and the operation cell also reached here.”

She said that a team from the Central Forensic Laboratory was also sent there for investigation.

The party’s State Media Cell head, Vineet Joshi, heard the explosion and commented on the incident:

“How did it take place? We could see some signs on the boundary wall. Only police can provide details.” He further told reporters, “It is a matter of concern if a blast took place outside the party office.”
